Forms is a simple yet surprisingly powerful tool that can be used for surveys, polls and for certain assessments. Question types include multiple choice, text answer, rating, ranking and Likert scales.
If you use the Quiz option, there is the option for automatic and manual marking. This option allows you to give students feedback on their answers which can help to guide their learning journeys.
How is Microsoft Forms used for teaching and learning?
Staff may use Forms to get student feedback, to set formative tests, or to gather administrative information. There is a ‘present’ feature which gives limited use as an in-class polling tool, though you may find Mentimeter better for this purpose. Students can also create a Form themselves, which could be used by learners working on research projects, for example, or gathering user requirements for a design brief.

Microsoft Forms is part of the Microsoft 365 suite. You can access it online from the app launcher or go to https://forms.office.com/
Forms also integrates with other Microsoft products so you can set up a poll in Outlook or Teams.
